Lubricant packaging is unforgiving work. Engine oil jugs are filled hot, stacked in pallets six high, transported long distances and expected to pour without glugging. The MP80D in this heavy duty specification weighs 8.2 tonnes on a 4 x 2.3 x 2.5 metre frame, and that mass is not decoration: it dampens clamp shock, holds alignment under two-shift running and keeps vibration away from the parison as it drops.
The 80 kW installed power covers a 30 kW extrusion motor, an 18.7 kW oil motor for clamp and carriage movement, and the heating load. Running a machine of this class continuously for sixteen hours a day puts hydraulic oil temperature and screw wear under scrutiny, which is why the hydraulics are sized to the task rather than overdriven, and why the barrel runs four controlled zones instead of one large heater cycling hard.

Engine oil bottles usually combine an offset neck with an integrated handle, which means the parison has to stretch asymmetrically. The heavier the machine frame, the less that asymmetric stretch is disturbed by clamp vibration and the more consistent the handle wall thickness becomes. That single factor drives most of the difference between a machine that passes drop tests reliably and one that scrapes through.
Multi-layer or fluorine-treated barrier versions of these bottles are increasingly requested for products that must meet permeation limits. The MP80D platform supports standard monolayer processing; where barrier structures are required, that should be specified at enquiry stage so the head and extruder configuration can be reviewed together with your resin supplier.
Frequently Asked QuestionsWhy does machine weight matter for bottle quality?
Frame mass absorbs clamp reaction forces and vibration. On asymmetric parts such as oil bottles with handles, less vibration means a more even parison stretch and more consistent wall thickness, which is directly measurable in drop and compression testing.
Can this machine run two shifts continuously?
It is designed for continuous industrial duty. Planned maintenance items are screw and barrel wear inspection, hydraulic oil condition and platen lubrication, all of which are accessible and documented in the maintenance manual.
What foundation and lifting arrangements are needed?
At 8.2 tonnes over a 4 x 2.3 metre footprint the machine needs a level, load-bearing floor rather than a special foundation in most installations. Lifting points and the centre of gravity are marked on the frame, and we supply a handling drawing for your rigging contractor.
