Two stations sharing one extruder is the oldest productivity idea in blow moulding, and still the most cost-effective one. On the MP80D the head delivers parison to one clamping station while the other completes blow and cooling, so the screw never idles waiting for a mould to open. The result is a machine that behaves like a continuous process rather than a batch one, with output per hour that a single station machine of the same screw size cannot match.
That efficiency has to be paid for in power, and the numbers are deliberately conservative: 80 kW total installed power, of which 30 kW drives the extruder, 18.7 kW runs the hydraulic oil motor and the remainder covers barrel and head heating. Because heating is split into four barrel zones and three head zones, the machine only draws what each zone needs rather than running a single oversized heater flat out.

Output per hour on a double station machine is not simply the single station rate doubled. It depends on how well the cooling time of one station covers the blow and reset time of the other. For a 1 litre bottle with a 12 second cooling phase, the two stations interleave almost perfectly and output approaches the practical maximum for the screw size. For a 10 litre container with a 60 second cooling phase, the clamp becomes the bottleneck and the extruder spends part of its time waiting, which is why we size the recommendation against your actual container rather than a headline rate.
The energy side is worth planning at the same time. Installed power of 80 kW is the connected load, not the running load; actual consumption on a mixed bottle schedule typically sits well below that because heating zones cycle rather than draw continuously. Sharing the measured consumption figures with your electrical contractor at the quotation stage avoids the common situation of an undersized supply cable delaying commissioning.
Frequently Asked QuestionsDoes the double station design double my output?
Not automatically. It removes the idle time that a single station machine spends waiting for mould open and eject, which for short-cycle bottles can approach a doubling of effective output. For long cooling cycles on large containers the gain is smaller, and we quantify it against your specific part before quoting.
What electrical supply does an 80 kW machine need?
The 80 kW figure is the installed load across heating, extrusion motor and hydraulics. Your supply should be sized on that connected load with normal diversity applied, and the exact voltage and phase configuration is confirmed against your plant standard at order stage.
How much cooling water and air does it consume?
Cooling water volume is specified at 40 L/min and compressed air at 1.5 m3/min at 0.6-0.8 MPa. Both are typical plant services for this class of machine, and no dedicated compressor or chiller specification is required beyond those figures.
